Tascam CD-500 Redesigns Single-Space CD Players

TASCAM has updated their best-selling line of single-rackspace CD players with the CD-500 and CD-500B. The new slot-loading players include new features such as flash start with a front-panel 10-key pad, WAV file playback, front-panel lockout, a footswitch input and more. The unbalanced CD-500 includes RS-232C control, S/PDIF optical and coaxial output. The CD-500B adds balanced outputs, AES/EBU digital out and parallel control. The new transport in the CD-500 and CD-500B uses a brushless motor for improved reliability and durability. The drive grabs discs from the edges instead of top and bottom, which avoids damage to the disc surface. Other features include ±16% pitch control, MP3 file playback, auto ready and auto cue modes. Tascam Unveils US-200 And US-600 Audio Interfaces

TASCAM, an industry leader in digital interfaces, has launched two stylish, lightweight, units perfectly suited for mobile musicians and home recording enthusiasts: the US-200 and US-600 USB 2.0 Audio/MIDI Interfaces. Each has a MIDI input and output, and each uses USB 2.0 for high-speed, low-latency conversion. Both interfaces have a ¼” stereo headphone output with zero-latency direct monitoring, switchable in either mono or stereo. The US-200 is a two-in/four-out interface with a pair of XLR/TRS combo jacks feeding high-quality microphone preamps with phantom power. Input 1 can be switched to instrument level for direct recording of guitar and bass. Four RCA outputs are included on the rear panel. The US-200 is bus powered from the USB input, removing the need of a wall-wart supply. The US-600 is a six-in/four-out interface with four XLR/TRS combo mic inputs, two on the front and two on the rear panel. S/PDIF digital in and out are available for direct digital connection to external preamps, drum machines and processors. Tascam Shrinks Portastudio With DP-03

TASCAM, the company that invented home recording, is back with the new DP-03 8-track Digital Portastudio. The DP-03 records two tracks at a time at CD quality to affordable SD/SDHC cards, using XLR microphone preamps or a pair of built-in condenser microphones. Mixing features like reverb and EQ are accessed using dedicated knobs for simple operation. When a production is finished, it can be transferred to computer over USB 2.0 or burned to CD using an internal drive. A pair of inputs can be routed to any tracks, providing condenser microphones with phantom power when required. The DP-03 inputs also include 1/4" line and instrument level switches for recording sources like drum machines, guitar and bass. A tuner and metronome are built in for assembling polished performances. Once recorded, tracks can be bounced and edited. Like the DP-02 before it, the DP-03 uses an array of dedicated controls for mixing, combined with a simple menu interface for editing and other features. New mastering effects like EQ and multiband compression have been added for radio-ready masters. With so much power in a compact package, the DP-03 makes recording affordable, portable and fun.

JBL Announces Arrival Of EON210P Portable PA System

The JBL EON210P includes two 10-inch, 2-way speakers, an 8-channel powered stereo mixer with four digital effects, two 15-foot speaker cables and a convenient storage compartment for microphones and accessories. New BSS AEC - Full Bandwidth, Lower Latency

BSS Audio introduced a new full-bandwidth Acoustic Echo Cancellation (AEC) algorithm for its Soundweb™ London conferencing processors. The US-1800 audio interface from TASCAM offers more inputs than any interface in its class. Up to 16 inputs and 4 outputs are transmitted to Mac or Windows over high-speed USB 2.0 connection. The US-1800 features eight XLR microphone inputs with phantom power and 60dB of clean gain. Six balanced line inputs are also provided, as well as stereo S/PDIF digital and MIDI in and out. Included with the US-1800 is Cubase LE5, the latest workstation software from Steinberg. This 48-track audio workstation includes must-have features like automation, plug-ins, mixing, editing and MIDI tracks. Cubase LE5 uses standard VST plug-ins for adding virtual instruments and effects.

Crown Goes Green With ComTech Drive Core

The recently introduced Crown Audio ComTech Drive Core seriesamplifiers are among a new generation of products at the forefront of Harman International's GreenEdge environmental initiative. Crown DriveCore series amplifiers are designed to be extremely energy-efficient, and use fewer resources in manufacturing. At the heart of the amplifiers is Harman's new DriveCore amplifier IC chip. This chip incorporates an unprecedented level of component integration into an IC that is smaller than the size of a postage stamp. Because of their greater efficiency and Class D design, ComTech DriveCore series amplifiers also produce less heat, a by-product of inefficient amplifier operation. As a result, the amplifiers do not need to use a fan or traditional large, heavy heat sinks, further reducing energy demands. The four models in the Crown ComTech DriveCore series deliver high-power output with greater than 90 percent efficiency, yet are compact and weigh less than 10 lbs.

AKG's New Perception Wireless

The Perception Wireless is designed to accommodate musicians and entry-level audio technicians, although it has the capabilities to handle even the most difficult audio setups with up to 8 channels per band. The Perception Wireless Series consists of a Vocal Set, with the handheld transmitter HT 45 featuring a dynamic cardioid capsule; the Instrumental Set, which comes with the pocket transmitter PT 45 plus instrument cable; the Sports Set with the pocket transmitter as well as a C 544 head-worn microphone; and a presenter set, complete with the PT 45 and a CK 99 L lavaliere microphone. All sets include the stationary receiver SR 45, a single AA battery and a switched mode power supply with EU/UK/US adapters. Tascam Reinvents Trainers With GB-10 And LR-10

TASCAM is reinventing music education once again with the GB-10 Guitar/Bass Trainer/Recorder and LR-10 Instrumental Trainer/Recorder. The new DR-03 makes TASCAM-quality handheld recording available for the first time for under $100. The recorder packs 24-bit recording with built-in stereo mics into a package smaller than an energy bar. The DR-03 records to microSD media and a 2GB card is included to start capturing audio right away.
